While house shopping from across the country, our empty-nester clients were delighted to discover new construction on Munjoy Hill with the exterior styled to look very much like the original home, circa 1880. Sarah & Sons developed a whole-house furnishing design with three specific requests in mind: 1. Keep existing finishes and fixtures since the home was entirely new, 2. Center their grand piano in the living space for entertaining, and 3. Everything must be hospitable to their yellow Labrador Retriever.

The living area is furnished with comfort and easy care in mind, including a custom slipcovered sofa, chairs with hard-wearing performance fabric, and a vintage wool rug. With the piano located in the intended dining area, we created an efficient dining arrangement in the kitchen that is cozy for daily use yet ready to expand for hosting.

Just outside the primary suite, the laundry unit received a thoughtful upgrade in custom cabinetry featuring inset woven panels to encourage air circulation while concealing appliances and preserving the sense of a calming retreat beyond.

We love that this home accommodates every member of the family with a beautiful mix of form and function and a fresh take on classic style.
